Terms of Use
ToText Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the ToText mobile application ("the App") and its optional shared-library connection in supported ChatGPT or Codex hosts (together, "the Service"). The App records personal voice notes, transcribes them, and produces AI-generated summaries. By installing the App or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree, do not use the Service. ToText is operated by Eyal Ronen under the LovelaceLoom brand.
1. The Service
ToText records your voice notes on your device, briefly sends the audio to a speech-to-text provider for automatic transcription, and produces a summary using an AI provider. The audio in our processing storage is deleted shortly after the transcription completes. Your finished transcripts, summaries, action items, and Q&A history are stored on your device and optionally in your personal iCloud Drive. Unless you enable the optional connection described in Section 5A, we do not keep a permanent server-side library. A finished transcript and summary sit on our server only for the short handover window needed to deliver them to your phone - see the "What we process on our servers (and for how long)" section of the Privacy Policy for the exact windows.
The App works without an account or sign-in. The optional connection creates a separate account and sign-in profile, which can include the name and email supplied by Apple, and a cloud copy of shared text. Support correspondence can also identify you, as described in the Privacy Policy.
2. Subscriptions and Payments
The App offers a free tier with a monthly minute allowance and paid auto-renewing subscriptions ("ToText Basic" / "ToText Pro") that unlock additional minutes and features.
- Pricing & duration appear at the time of purchase inside the App. All payments are processed by Apple via the App Store; we never see your card details or your Apple ID.
- Auto-renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before renewal. You can manage and cancel via Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions in iOS.
- Refunds are handled exclusively by Apple. We are not authorized to issue refunds and the decision is Apple's alone. To request one, use Apple's Report a Problem page - reportaproblem.apple.com - sign in with the Apple ID that made the purchase, and choose the ToText charge.
- Family Sharing: Subscriptions are personal to the purchasing Apple ID and not shareable.
- Tier verification: To unlock paid features, the App asks Apple's StoreKit for a signed receipt and forwards it to our server only for signature verification. We do not store the receipt. We do keep one small anti-fraud record per subscription (Apple's transaction ID, the hashed device IDs that presented it, and first/last-seen timestamps), which expires automatically - see the "Subscriptions and payments" section of the Privacy Policy for exactly what it holds and for how long.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree NOT to use the App to:
- Record any person without the consent the law requires - including, where it applies, the law of the place where the other participants are.
- Record, transcribe, store, or share content that is illegal, defamatory, harassing, infringing, or that violates any third party's rights.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to extract the source code of the App or its servers.
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our infrastructure, or breach security or authentication controls.
- Use the App in any manner that could damage, overburden, or impair our servers or networks.
If you are under the age of majority where you live, use ToText's AI features only with the consent of a parent or guardian.
You are solely responsible for the legality of any recording you make and for obtaining all necessary consents from third parties whose voices appear in your recordings. We do not review your recordings and cannot verify consent.
4. App Use Without an Account and the Optional Connection
Ordinary app use does not maintain a sign-in account on our infrastructure. Each device generates an anonymous random identifier stored in the iOS Keychain and sends it with service requests. We do not store that raw value; we store a one-way form produced with a server secret and use it to scope processing jobs, quotas and short-lived service controls. That stored form does not give us your name or email. The separate account and profile for the optional connection are described in Section 5A and the Privacy Policy.
Use Settings → Delete all my data to remove local content, attempt to remove the App's iCloud content, and request deletion of the server rows the app can address. The App reports incomplete cleanup and retries eligible pending work. If you enabled the optional connection, also use Settings → ChatGPT → Disconnect and delete as described in Section 5A. The Delete all my data flow can request connection deletion too; expired sign-in may require separate Apple verification. Current-month quota and daily abuse counters are retained to prevent limit resets. Quota retention depends on the metering rollout, and older device-quota rows may not yet have an expiry. The applicable retention and deletion schedules for quota, processing and anti-fraud rows are stated in the Privacy Policy under "Subscriptions and payments" and "Your rights."
5. Your Library and Backups
Your library lives on your device and, if you turn it on, in your personal iCloud Drive. Unless you enable the optional connection, we do not maintain a permanent server-side library. The connection's separate cloud copy is for assistant access and edits, not a library-restoration or backup service. Temporary processing copies and database recovery backups are described in the Privacy Policy; they do not replace a backup of your library. Backing up content you care about (for example with an iCloud or device backup) is your responsibility.
Deleting content - including Settings → Delete all my data - is permanent. When iCloud sync is on, a deletion may reach your other devices, and content held on another device may survive and sync back. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss of, damage to, or failure to sync any recordings, transcripts, or other content.
5A. The Optional ChatGPT and Codex Connection
If your installed version offers it, you can enable sharing in Settings → ChatGPT, accept the sharing consent, and sign in with Apple. This creates a separate connection account and copies eligible completed recording details, summaries, transcripts and tasks to our servers. It does not share new audio. Add ToText in a supported ChatGPT or Codex host and sign in with the same Apple account to access that cloud copy.
At your request, the assistant can search and read shared text, rename recordings, change tags or favorites, rewrite summaries, and add, edit, complete, reopen or delete tasks. This release cannot delete recordings, accept new audio uploads or transcribe new audio from ChatGPT. It does not send email, make purchases or manage subscriptions. Purchases and plan management remain with Apple as described in Section 2.
Sharing runs while ToText is open and connected to the network. It is not a guarantee of immediate, offline or always-running background delivery. Assistant edits return to your phone on its next successful sync. A shared recording count refers to the cloud copy and may differ from your full local library. Availability depends on your installed app version and the host; availability in one interface does not guarantee it in every ChatGPT or Codex interface.
Share only content you have the right to share, with other people's permission where required. Do not share protected health information, payment-card data, government identifiers, passwords, API keys or other authentication secrets through the connection. The connection is not a medical-record service and does not guarantee automatic detection or removal of prohibited information. It is not intended for children under 13.
OpenAI handles content returned to ChatGPT or Codex under its own terms, privacy policy and your OpenAI account settings. Those services are separate from ToText's app-processing providers. You are responsible for reviewing important answers, quotations and edits before relying on them; Section 6 applies to assistant outputs too.
The connection account and shared library remain until you request deletion. Signing out, disconnecting only in a host, or uninstalling ToText does not delete this cloud copy. In ToText, use Settings → ChatGPT → Disconnect and delete to remove shared-library access and request deletion of the stored content, without deleting your phone recordings. Already authorized writes can finish after the request; obsolete text and legacy audio are removed by background cleanup. Removal is asynchronous and has no guaranteed fixed completion time. We separately attempt deletion of the sign-in profile at Auth0; that can fail even after library access is removed. An expired sign-in may require Apple verification to complete the cloud deletion request. Keep pending deletion requests and retry, or contact company@lovelaceloom.com for help with a remaining profile or deletion request.
Disconnect ToText in each host to stop that host's access. Deleting the ToText cloud copy cannot retract content already received by OpenAI; manage those conversations separately. The optional connection section of the Privacy Policy explains sign-in profiles, providers, locations, retention and deletion in detail.
6. AI Outputs - No Warranty of Accuracy
Transcriptions and AI summaries are generated automatically and may contain errors, omissions, or hallucinations. They should not be relied on as an authoritative record of any conversation. You are responsible for verifying important details before acting on them.
Nothing the App produces - a transcript, a summary, an action item, or an answer in the Q&A chat - is medical, legal, financial, or any other kind of professional advice. If a recording touches on your health, your rights, or your money, talk to a qualified professional before acting; never act on the App's output alone.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ToText provides the Service "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, or non-infringement. The Service is an automatic drafting aid, not a certified transcription service and not advice. Because outputs are machine-generated and no person reviews them, we are not responsible for decisions, actions, or omissions based on them - verifying anything important is on you.
Third-party services and availability. Our speech-to-text and app AI providers process content on our behalf to provide the app's transcription, summaries and follow-up answers. Apple's services and iCloud operate under Apple's applicable terms and policies. ChatGPT and Codex operate under OpenAI's separate terms and policies, as described in Section 5A. We do not operate those systems, and we do not promise the Service will be available at any particular time or without interruptions. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for interruptions or failures of the Service caused by those third-party services, or for their acts, omissions, or unavailability, beyond what Section 7 provides.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall ToText, its operators, employees, or contractors be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business interruption - arising out of or in connection with your use of the App, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total aggregate liability arising from or in connection with the App and these Terms shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD $50.
One honest limit on the limits above: nothing in these Terms excludes liability that the law does not allow us to exclude - for example, harm we cause intentionally or through gross negligence, or injury to a person. In those cases the law, not this section, sets the boundary. If a court trims or voids any part of these sections, the rest - including the cap above - stays in force.
8. Your Responsibility for Claims
If someone else brings a claim against us because you recorded them without the consent the law required, or because content you recorded or shared broke the law or their rights, you will reimburse us for the damages and reasonable legal costs a court finally awards against us on that claim, for amounts we pay in a settlement you approved in writing, and for our reasonable costs of defending it. This applies only to claims caused by your breach of these Terms or your violation of law - never to problems we caused.
9. Intellectual Property
The App, including its code, design, trademarks, and underlying technology, is owned by the operator of ToText (Eyal Ronen, operating under the LovelaceLoom brand) and protected by applicable laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on Apple devices you own or control, subject to these Terms and the Apple Media Services Terms.
Apple App Store. That license is delivered through Apple's App Store and is also governed by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (part of the Apple Media Services Terms). If the two conflict about use of the App on your device, Apple's standard EULA controls; these Terms govern the ToText service the App connects to. Apple is not a party to these Terms. ToText, not Apple, is responsible for the App and the service, and Apple has no obligation to provide any support for them.
Your recordings, transcripts, and summaries belong to you. We claim no ownership rights in your content.
10. Privacy
Our processing of your personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy. By accepting these Terms you also acknowledge the Privacy Policy.
11. Termination
We may suspend or restrict access to the Service if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or used the App in a way that harms us or other users. If we suspend or restrict access, we will say so inside the App and explain why, unless doing so would defeat the purpose (for example, active abuse or fraud) or is barred by law. Suspension does not cancel your Apple subscription - you can cancel renewal at any time via Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions, and refunds are handled by Apple (see Section 2). You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. Uninstalling does not delete an optional connection account or cloud library; use the deletion steps in Section 5A. Sections 5 through 10, 12, and 14 survive any termination.
12. Changes to the Service
We are a small operation, and the Service will change over time. We may change, suspend, or discontinue the Service or any part of it - including the free monthly allowance, features, and quotas. If a change materially reduces a paid feature during your subscription period, we will give reasonable notice inside the App or on this page and, where we can, apply it from your next renewal; you can cancel at any time and may request a refund for the unused period from Apple. "Unlimited" features are subject to fair personal use: to keep the Service available to everyone we apply technical limits, and may limit or temporarily pause usage that appears automated, shared across many people, or commercial in scale.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms when we ship new features or change how the Service works. Material changes will be highlighted on this page, and where reasonably possible inside the App as well. A change applies only from its effective date onward and will not reduce the paid features of a subscription period you have already paid for.
14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
ToText is operated by Eyal Ronen under the LovelaceLoom brand, Israel ("the operator"). Wherever these Terms say "ToText" or "we", they mean the operator. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Israel.
The above does not deprive any consumer of the protections granted by mandatory consumer-protection laws of their country of residence.
