ToText connection
ToText in ChatGPT and Codex
ToText's optional library connection lets you search, read and manage shared voice-note text in supported ChatGPT or Codex hosts. It shares eligible completed recording text, not audio. Your app still works without the connection.
Check availability first
The connection is not yet publicly available. At the last verification on 8 October 2026 (UTC), the public App Store version was 3.1.1 (build 243), which does not include Settings → ChatGPT. The new connection was available in an internal TestFlight build, not the public App Store release. App version 3.1.2 remained under review, and plugin version 1.0.0 had been submitted for review but was not published. The steps below describe setup once a compatible app version and the connection are available in your host.
If Settings → ChatGPT is missing, this is not a sign-in error. Do not reinstall the app or delete recordings to find it. Check the app version and availability first. Availability in one interface, or a development demonstration, does not guarantee availability in every ChatGPT or Codex interface.
Choose where to start
- New to ToText? Install the app and make or import your first recording.
- Already have ToText recordings? Check availability, then connect your existing library.
You need a supported Apple device for this setup: an iPhone with iOS 18 or later, an iPad with iPadOS 18 or later, or a Mac with an M1 chip or later and macOS 15 or later. You do not need an iPhone if you use a supported iPad or Mac. The Mac download is the iPad app; the App Store labels it “Designed for iPad” and “Not verified for macOS.” Mac setup still needs device testing. Intel Macs, Windows and Android cannot run the current native app.
New to ToText: start in the app
- Download ToText from the App Store on a supported device, then open it. Installing the app does not automatically connect or share your library with ChatGPT.
- Record a short note or import an audio file you have permission to process. Review and accept the app's processing consent when asked, then wait for the transcript and summary. Ordinary recording and transcription in ToText do not require a ToText account.
- When your installed app and host support the connection, follow Connect your library below. The optional library-sharing consent is separate from processing consent.
This connection works with completed recording text from the app. It does not accept or transcribe new audio in ChatGPT. Signing in only in ChatGPT does not create your ToText cloud library or import recordings.
Connect your library
- In a compatible ToText version, open Settings → ChatGPT. Read the sharing consent before accepting it. This shares eligible completed recording text from your library, not just the recording you are viewing. Audio is not shared through this connection.
- Choose Continue with Apple in ToText. This sets up the separate cloud-library account; it does not by itself connect your ChatGPT host.
- Keep ToText open and online until sharing succeeds. Check that the recording you want to use has completed processing and has been shared. A signed-in or connected status alone does not mean any recordings have finished sharing.
- Manually return to the ChatGPT or Codex host where you started. When ToText is available there, add or reconnect it and sign in with the same Apple account you used for the connection in ToText. If you need to open ChatGPT, use Open ChatGPT; this opens ChatGPT, not a particular conversation.
- Ask “Find my latest recording.” After the assistant finds the real shared recording, ask it to summarize that recording or answer a question about its transcript. If no recording appears, use the checks below before assuming setup is complete.
Once a recording has been shared successfully, you can ask about its cloud copy even when your device is offline. New recordings and app changes still need another successful sync. A synthetic reviewer demo is separate from personal libraries and does not demonstrate device synchronization.
If your library is not ready
- No connection setting or plugin: check availability. Do not treat a missing release as a broken account.
- No completed recordings: make or import a recording in ToText, approve processing if asked, and wait for completion.
- Sharing is pending or failed: keep ToText open and online, check the app's sharing status and error message, and try again when the connection is available. Do not repeatedly reinstall or delete recordings.
- Shared recordings do not appear in the host: check that both connections use the same Apple account. If the host remembers the wrong account, follow the account-switching guidance.
- Deletion is pending: let the deletion finish and contact support if it remains unresolved. Reconnecting is not a substitute for completing deletion.
Supported actions
- Find recordings and transcript passages, read summaries, and inspect exact transcript quotations with available passage times.
- Review open tasks, rename recordings, change tags or favorites, and rewrite summaries.
- Add, edit, complete, reopen or delete tasks at your request. Changes return to the app on its next successful sync.
You might ask, "Find my latest recording," "Show my open tasks," or "Summarize the kitchen renovation recording and quote the decisions." Verify important details and proposed edits. Transcripts and AI answers can contain errors.
This release does not delete recordings, accept new audio uploads, transcribe new audio from ChatGPT, send email, make purchases or manage subscriptions. ToText purchases and plan management remain with Apple.
For monthly transcription allowances and usage resets, read the plan and usage information. No purchases are offered on that page.
Sharing and deletion
The connection creates a separate account and sign-in profile and copies eligible recording details, summaries, transcripts and tasks to a cloud library. Sharing runs while ToText is open and online; it is not an immediate, offline or always-running background delivery guarantee. The shared count may differ from your full local library.
Share only content you have permission to share. Do not share protected health information, payment-card data, government identifiers, passwords, API keys or other authentication secrets. The connection does not guarantee automatic detection or removal of prohibited information and is not intended for children under 13.
Signing out, disconnecting only in a host, or uninstalling ToText does not delete the cloud copy. In ToText, use Settings → ChatGPT → Disconnect and delete to remove shared-library access and request cloud deletion without deleting your device recordings. Cleanup is asynchronous; removal of the separate sign-in profile can fail. Contact us if a profile or deletion request remains unresolved. Content already returned to OpenAI remains subject to its own terms, privacy policy and your settings; manage those conversations separately.
Read the optional connection privacy details and connection terms before enabling sharing.
English reviewer demo
This English walkthrough uses synthetic reviewer data and shows an actual, completed ChatGPT browser development session: recording search, a recording card, transcript reading, an unsent email draft, task-change readback and current capability limits. It does not verify iPhone synchronization, packaged-plugin skills, availability in every host or response times.

Get help
If the host connects to the wrong remembered account, use its account-management controls to disconnect that host connection and sign in with the intended account. Do not delete device recordings to switch accounts. If you cannot use a link, open ToText manually and navigate to Settings → ChatGPT in a compatible version, then return to your host manually.
For help, email company@lovelaceloom.com with your device model, operating-system version, ToText version and build, the host you used, approximate issue time and any error message. Do not send sign-in secrets, recordings or transcripts. More app questions are answered on the support page.
